Supreme Council organises forum on Oman Vision 2040
NIZWA: The Supreme Council for Planning organised an introductory forum on Oman Vision 2040 and the time frame of Oman Initiative at Nizwa Cultural Centre in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah on Sunday.
The forum comes as part of the communication initiatives to achieve social partnership and was held under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Khalifa bin Hamad Al Saadi, Governor of A’Dakhiliyah.
Presentation
Dr. Yousef bin Hamad Al Balushi, Economist at the Vision Office submitted a brief presentation on the Oman Vision 2040, which was based on the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the accompanying objectives, points, themes, milestones, stages, preparation and committees.
After that, a public discussion session was conducted on Oman Vision 2040, in which the members of the sectoral and qualitative committees participated.
Themes
The participants then were divided into three discussion groups that dealt with the first theme “Man and Community” to promote social welfare, preserve the identity and heritage of the Sultanate and develop national competencies.
The second theme “Economy and Development” addressed wealth achievement through a diversified economy, empower the private sector, establish a modern infrastructure and an integrated urban system, preserve the sustainability of the environment and achieve balanced development of the governorates.
The third theme “Governance and Institutional Performance” aims at improving the effectiveness of governance and institutional performance, the rule of law, raise the efficiency of government agencies, raise the degree of coordination between them and strengthen citizens’ confidence.
Target groups
It is worth mentioning that the forum targets the various segments of the society from governors, Walis, sheikhs, state dignitaries, government representatives in the governorates, honourable members of the State Council, members of Majlis Al Shura, and municipal councils, civil society organisations, sports clubs, youth, students of higher education institutions, schools, business owners, academic bodies and Omani women associations.
