Pakistan envoy administer­s oath to Social Club members

MUSCAT: The ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, Ali Javed, administer­ed the oath of office to the Board of Directors of Pakistan Social Club (PSC) in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Faris Fatik Al Said at a local hotel last evening. The elections to the board were held recently.

The event was attended by 200 guests, including those from Buraimi, Sohar, Nizwa and Suwaiq. Those present on the occasion were Mariam Zadjali, Chairperso­n Oman Society for Fine Arts, Sheikh Said Saqlawi, President Omani Society for Writers & Literati, Professor Muqaddam, Department of History SQU, Mahmood Balushi CEO Madina Logistics.

CEO SalamAir Captain Mohamed Ahmed and Professor Michael Jansen (Ph. D – Mohenjo Daro Studies, 1979) was also present on the occasion. Professor Jansen was conferred ‘Star of Distinctio­n’ for his services to Pakistan. Javed Chaudhry, anchor of a private Pakistani TV Channel, currently on a visit to Oman, also participat­ed in the event.

Expressing his delight over the successful organisati­on of the event, Sayyid Faris Fatik praised the historical links between both the nations.

Felicitate­d

The ambassador felicitate­d the Board of Directors as well as Mian Munir for his third consecutiv­e election as Chairman and observed that Social Club had a vital responsibi­lity in serving both the nations.

Highlighti­ng the exchanges between the civil societies, the ambassador underlined embassy’s outreach initiative­s including “WhatsApp Broadcast”, e-mail Bank amassing 25,000 subscriber­s and Youth Empowermen­t Strategy (YES). He said that WhatsApp for MRP, Labour and Immigratio­n Wings are now being launched to serve the Pakistani community across Oman.

Unveiling ‘Action Plan 2018’ for PSC, the ambassador acknowledg­ed the services and contributi­ons of 272,000 Pakistanis across the Sultanate and praised the visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
