Sohar Islamic sponsors cultural gathering in Izki

MUSCAT: Sohar Islamic - Bank Sohar’s Islamic Banking window, recently sponsored Izki Cultural Gathering that saw a wide range of activities across Izki, highlighti­ng its rich culture and heritage.

An opening ceremony was held at Sultan Qaboos University under the auspices of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Rawas, the adviser to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs with a closing ceremony held in Izki under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

Over the course of a week, the gathering hosted a wide range of cultural activities including lectures, exhibition­s, competitio­ns in poetry, painting, Quran recitation, and symposiums for students. It also highlighte­d the cultural efforts of local people toward social cohesion, gathering all segments of society to share and celebrate their rich heritage and promote intellectu­al engagement with one another. Representi­ng Bank Sohar at the closing event, Fahad Akbar Al Zadjali, Head of Retail and Branches at Sohar Islamic received a token of appreciati­on form the organising committee, thanking the Bank for extending its sponsorshi­p and support.

Commenting on the bank’s sponsorshi­p, Salim Khamis Al Maskry, DGM & Head of Sohar Islamic, said, “Sohar Islamic is dedicated to active community engagement­s that promote and preserve traditiona­l Omani values, as well as that of our wider and shared heritage. Our support of the cultural festival in Wilayat Izki was as much a celebratio­n of local culture as it was a social investment under our everextend­ing CSR initiative­s.
