Al Buraimi border opened, UAE trip to be smoother
Residents of Oman can rejoice as the new Sa’ara border point in Al Buraimi opened for both Omanis and expats on Tuesday.
“Both Omanis and expats planning a trip to the UAE can use this new border point, which was opened on Tuesday,” said a Royal Oman Police (ROP) official.
The distance from Muscat via Dakhiliyah road to Sa’ara border point is around 332km and from Sa’ara border to Dubai 130km.
“On Tuesday, May 15, ROP celebrated the opening of the Sa’ara border point in Al Buraimi. This border will make the journey easier for travellers to go to the UAE as it will have six counters both ways,” said an ROP official.
The event took place under the patronage of Dr. Said Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), in the presence of Major General Hamad Al Hatami, Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Customs, and a number of dignitaries.
Al Kaabi said the opening of the new border point would facilitate movement between the two countries.
“Sa’ara point is one of the most important pillars of the borders’ system in Buraimi Governorate and the community looks forward to facilitating entry and exit procedures in the Governorate,” said Sayyid Ibrahim Al Busaidy, Governor of Buraimi.
Ruqaya Al Yahiei, an economic researcher in the office of the Governor of Buraimi, said, “It will enhance the services provided by police.
“The border is considered to be the gate of Oman from the west and will undoubtedly play an important role in facilitating mobility and enhancing the economic and security aspects.”
