Z-Corp organises sports event for Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres
MUSCAT: In line with its strategy to strengthen its socially impactful initiatives, The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp) organised sports open day for the children of Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children in Al Batinah North Governorate.
The sports event for Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children was organised by the ‘collaboration team’ of ZCorp. The ‘collaboration team’ comprises a group of employees of Z-Corp who participate in community initiatives, which are planned and executed by them.
Four Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children from Al Batinah North Governorate including Sohar, Shinas, Al Khabourah and Al Suwaiq participated in the sports open day. Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children with branches across Oman aims to rehabilitate children who have some form of mental, auditory, physical, or visual disability.
Z-Corp’s ‘collaboration team’ undertakes projects that bring to focus the groups continued and evolving a socially relevant strategy to make a positive difference in the society. The organisation of this event comes within the framework of the corporate social responsibility strategy of Z-Corp and displays the group’s commitment to support the community it operates.
The sports open day provided an opportunity for the children to participate in different sports and athletics events such as running (50 metres), running (100 metres), 4 × 100 metres relay, shot put, long jump among others.
The objective of organising the sports day was to encourage children with disabilities to participate in sporting activities.
Faisal Bin Ali Al Manthari assistant manager Social Communications, The Zubair Corporation said, “As a responsible corporate house our strategy is to focus on socially relevant work. Our intention is to make a positive difference in the society through different activities we undertake. We are pleased to collaborate with Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children and organise this open sports day forum for the benefit of children with disabilities. Support for the centre also comes as part of Z-Corp’s strategy to build its programmes around factors such as employee engagement, community involvement and corporate giving. The objective is to touch and improve the lives of the communities they live in. It was wonderful to see over 80 students participate with so much enthusiasm.”
He added, “The Zubair Corporation identifies itself fully with the vision of Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children. We want to raise people’s awareness to the need to provide more support to children with disability to enable them to integrate into the community and to also access sports.”
Yahya Al Balushi ‘collaboration team’ said, “We will continue to nurture our employees’ sense of responsibility and encourage the exchange of experience. We have organised many similar events at different institutes and will continue to do so. We believe that those with disabilities are an equal and important part of the community.”
Thanking the Zubair Corporation’s collaboration team, a Badriya Al Balushi Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children said, “The children enjoyed and participated with much enthusiasm. We are grateful to the Z-Corp for making a difference in the life of these children. Our centres rehabilitate disabled children between the age of 3 and 14 by instilling skills in them that enable them to become self-reliant as much as possible. These centres also provide suitable rehabilitation and training programmes for the enrolled children to encourage them to become independent. In addition, the centres provide educational programmes for the families of the disabled children on how to deal with the disabled, the causes of disability and ways to prevent them. They need the support of the society and we are grateful that a private sector organisation like Zubair supports our centre.
The ‘collaboration team’ organises special events to remain connected with society. Among the programmes it has undertaken, it organised an open day for children affected by Down’s Syndrome. The open day event titled was held in association with Ministry of Social Development’s Al Aman Rehabilitation Centre to mark World Down Syndrome Day annually observed on March 21 to raise public awareness on Down Syndrome, a congenital disorder The ‘collaboration team’ organised an open sports day event at the Omar bin Al Khattab Institute for the Blind based in Mawaleh. To emphasise the philosophy of giving to the society, the ‘collaboration team’ organised a community event at the Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children in Sohar.
As part of its initiatives to reach out to the local community during the spiritually uplifting Ramadan month, the ‘collaboration team’ organised an Iftar and dinner reception for senior citizens in Al Batinah South and Al Dakhiliyah governorates.
