MSM in­dex ends lower

Ma­jan Col­lege was the only gainer, up 1.36 per cent while the top loser was Salalah Mills, down 19.17 per cent

MUS­CAT: Sen­ti­ment re­mained weak in the re­gion and the MSM30 In­dex re­treated 0.66 per cent to close at 4,653.78 points. The MSM Sharia In­dex ended at 663.00 points, down 0.53 per cent. Sem­b­corp Salalah was the most ac­tive in terms of vol­ume while Bank Mus­cat led in terms of turnover. Ma­jan Col­lege was the only gainer, up 1.36 per cent while the top loser was Salalah Mills, down 19.17 per cent.

A to­tal num­ber of 418 trades were ex­e­cuted on Wed­nes­day, gen­er­at­ing turnover of OMR2.25 mil­lion with 9.38 mil­lion shares chang­ing hands. Out of 40 traded se­cu­ri­ties, 1 ad­vanced, 20 de­clined and 19 re­mained un­changed. At the ses­sion close, GCC & Arab in­vestors were net buy­ers for OMR121,000 fol­lowed by Omani In­vestors for OMR67,000 while For­eign In­vestors re­mained net sell­ers for OMR188,000 worth of shares.

Fi­nan­cial In­dex lost 0.58 per cent to fin­ish at 7,238.81 points. Dho­far In­sur­ance, United Fi­nance, Al Shar­qia In­vest­ments, Bank Nizwa and Gulf In­vest­ment Ser­vices de­clined 3.28 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.34 per cent, 2.27 per cent and 1.89 per cent re­spec­tively. In­dus­trial Sec­tor re­treated 0.63 per cent to close at 6,266.29 points. Salalah Mills, Voltamp En­ergy, National Alu­minium, Gal­far En­gi­neer­ing and Oman Fish­eries de­creased 19.17 per cent, 4.14 per cent, 2.48 per cent, 1.80 per cent and 0.84 per cent re­spec­tively.

Ser­vices In­dex ended at 2,502.44 points, down 0.49 per cent. Ma­jan Col­lege, up 1.36 per cent, was the only gainer in the MSM. Oman Oil Mar­ket­ing, Oore­doo, OIFC, Phoenix Power and Al Jazeera Ser­vices lost 3.57 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 1.68 per cent, 0.79 per cent, and 0.62 per cent re­spec­tively.
