Diane Kruger presents Trophée Chopard at Cannes Film Festival

-

MUSCAT: Diane Kruger, the winner of last year’s Best Actress award at Cannes Film Festival, awarded the Trophée Chopard to two budding talents from the film industry at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

The ceremony was held at the Martinez Hotel in Cannes on May 14. Kruger, who received the award in 2003, returned this year as patroness of the prestigious Trophée. She followed in the footsteps of Charlize Theron who officiated at the 2017 edition.

Each year, since 2001, the Trophée Chopard brings into the limelight young talents from the international film industry thus propelling them into a successful future on the silver screen.

Previous recipients of this prestigious award have included Audrey Tautou and Marion Cotillard, who won an Oscar in 2008 for her performance in Olivier Dahan’s La Vie en Rose to Ezra Miller and John Boyega, actors who have triumphed both in indie movies and in blockbuster productions.

This year, for the first time, the jury was slightly different from those of previous years, notably including not only Caroline Scheufele and Steven Gaydos, Steeve Gaydos, Executive Editor of Variety magazine, but also former prize winners and patrons having actively contributed to the history of the Trophée, such as Julianne Moore, Isabelle Adjani, Juliette Binoche, Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard, and Colin Firth among others.

As the historical partner of the Cannes International Film Festival since 1998, Masion Chopard, under the creative leadership of its Co-President and Director Caroline Scheufele, continues to affirm its unconditional love of cinema not just through Cannes but also through its Red Carpet jewellery collection, which is being launched during the film festival.
