ISC Salalah – Telugu Vibhag celebrates Ugadi
SALALAH: The Telugu Vibhag of Indian Social Club, Salalah celebrated Ugadi.
The evening started with a welcome speech by Radhika Harikumar, lady coordinator. Manpreet Singh, Chairman –ISC, Salalah was the chief guest. Singh and Aleem Khan, convener - Telugu Vibhag addressed the gathering.
The cultural events started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by the traditional Panchanga Sravanam. Over 178 participants of various age groups enthralled the audience with their captivating performances based on classical, semi-classical and cinematic medleys. Some of the noteworthy programmes included dances based on Telugu saint-poet Annamacharya’s life. The Telugu Festivals presented by the woman members showcasing the important festivals of the Telugu states won the acclaim of the viewers.
The highlight of the event Children’s Fashion show stole the show of the day, and the grand finale was dedicated to the popular actor of Indian film industry, Sridevi, who passed away recently. Popular songs of Sridevi from a wide spectrum of her acting career were replicated on stage. Conceived and directed by Nityanand, Ganesh, the cultural secretaries, Murali, co-convener and Pavan, the PRO of the Telugu Vibhag, the item engrossed the audience with excellent performance by all dancers.
The entire event was conducted on a beautifully decorated stage, with Taj Mahal as the backdrop.
