MUSCAT: Continuing with its commitment to developing Omani talent, Ooredoo announced the graduation of Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Wahaibi, Ooredoo’s Chief Business & Wholesale Officer from the National CEO Programme.

The graduation ceremony, which took place under the patronage of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan Royal Court, saw Ooredoo’s second family member graduate from the prestigious programme.

Ian Dench, the chief executive officer at Ooredoo said, “We are delighted for Sultan having completed what is now well established as the programme of choice for future CEOs. Ooredoo is dedicated to recruiting and retaining talented Omanis, helping to fulfil their professional aspirations and developing Oman’s future leaders.”

A first-of-its-kind initiative, which develops future Omani executives through a transformative learning process, the National CEO Programme helps to build a network of current and future CEOs within the private sector. The programme aims to invest in Omanis who hold senior-level positions, developing their leadership skills, capabilities and experience and empowering them to transform into visionary leaders and unlock the economic potential within Oman.

Sultan commented, “The National CEO Programme for me was a journey of learning to learn. In the past nine months, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding leadership, innovation, strategy, and finance. I’ve also learned the importance of leading change and doing so within a global context.”

Launched in 2015 by the Public Private Partnership Taskforce (Sharaka) and the Institute of Capability Development of Diwan of Royal Court, the National CEO Programme has been designed to deliver the next generation of leaders to the Sultanate’s private sector.

Understanding that skills development is key to professional growth, the initiative is delivered in Switzerland, Oman, Singapore and Estonia to provide attendees with a wide range of cross-sector skills in global business environments. The six-module programme incorporates group visits to innovative high-performance public and private sector organisations to gain insight and know-how.
