- Times News Service

The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) recently celebrated seven years of artistic and musical performances on October 12. ROHM started its first official performance on October 12, 2011 and in the past seven years, it has presented a diversity of programmes, which included operas, ballets and folkloric dance, classical music concerts, Arab and Indian music, musicals, and jazz. It has hosted world famous artists and performances. A show from Vietnam, - À -, was held for the first time. The title was created from the Vietnamese words for village (lang) and city (po) and it depicted the richness of Vietnam’s culture, past and present. The show was a beautiful blend of genres with a unique stage language in dance choreography, acrobatics, bamboo cirque, theatre, sophisticated lighting effects and live music featuring seventeen Vietnamese musical instruments. Five-times Grammy winner Jazz diva Dianne Reeves set the stage on fire by her scintillating performance last year. Among the recent shows that mesmerised the audience was La Bayadère performed by the Tokyo Ballet. Set in ancient royal India, the theme of La Bayadère depicted tales of fate, vengeance and eternal love.
