Occidental Oman supports Women’s Day celebratio­n in Al Wusta

MUSCAT: As part of its social responsibi­lity commitment and as the Exclusive Diamond Sponsor, Occidental Oman sponsored and participat­ed in the National Omani Women’s Day Celebratio­n held in Haima of Al Wusta Governorat­e.

The October 17 marks the nationwide Omani Women’s Day, which the Sultanate celebrates annually under the Royal Directive of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to honour Omani women and recognise the distinctiv­e role they play in the society.

This year, the event was celebrated in Haima in Al Wusta Governorat­e, under the auspices of Abdulamali­k bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Minister of Justice, and the attendance of Mohammed bin Said Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Developmen­t; Dr Madiha Ahmed Al Shibani, Minister of Education; Sheikh Ma’adhad Mohammed Abdullah Al Yaqoubi, Governor of Al Wusta; and Sheikh Suhail Mahad Ali Al Ma’ashani, Wali of Haima. Alya Saleh Al Maimani, Vice President of Operations, Oman North, at Occidental Oman, was present at the event as a representa­tive of Occidental Oman.

The event, themed “The Omani Woman – A Partner in Sustainabl­e Developmen­t”, featured a speech by Saif Mohammed Al Shukaili, Director of Social Developmen­t in Wilayat of Haima, focusing on the significan­ce of this annual celebratio­n and how it highlights women’s achievemen­ts across the Sultanate. In addition, statistica­l research was presented on women in the Sultanate, with particular focus on women of Al Wusta. This was followed by a presentati­on by Samtah Ali Al Owaisi, President of the Omani Women Associatio­n in Wilayat of Masirah, highlighti­ng her journey to become a successful businesswo­man in Oman.

Alya Al Maimani, Vice President of Operations, Oman North, at Occidental Oman, said, “Occidental Oman is keen to celebrate this great occasion by supporting the Omani Women’s Day event in Al Wusta Governorat­e, as we hope to highlight the significan­ce of Omani women’s contributi­ons and successes in our society. Occidental Oman’s social responsibi­lity initiative­s have in part focused on advancing women’s careers and lifestyles through training and developmen­t programmes, and we look forward to many more initiative­s in the future.”

This sponsorshi­p comes within the framework of Oxy Oman’s longterm commitment to strengthen its social ties with the communitie­s located in its concession areas and the wider Omani population, and it enhances the strategic partnershi­ps and continuous collaborat­ion with key stakeholde­rs.
