Child safety norms reviewed in meeting
The study on ‘Child Protection Against Accidents’ was reviewed by the State Council Office during the meeting
MUSCAT: The State Council Office held a meeting yesterday under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.
A discussion was held on the proposal that the Education and Research Committee would like to consider in its study on “Developing the Regulation of Private Training Institutions.”
In this regard, the meeting hosted Dr. Zuhoor bint Abdullah Al Khanjariyah, Deputy Head of the Committee, to discuss the proposal.
After discussing the proposal, the participants decided to refer it to the next plenary meeting of the Council for discussion.
Also hosted were Dr. Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Salmi, Head of the Social Committee and Dr. Mona bin bint Ahmed Al Sadoun, Rapporteur of the Committee, to discuss the study by the Committee on “Child Protection Against Accidents”, which aims to monitor the situation of children’s accidents in the Sultanate and to review legislations related to safety and security.
The meeting decided to refer the study to the next plenary meeting of the Council after accommodating all the remarks made by the members of the Office. They also hosted Dr. Hassan bin Ali Al Madhani to discuss the proposal on the study “Enhancing the use of manpower in the public sector”.
A discussion was held on the proposal presented by the Economic Knowledge Task Force on the “Proposal of the State Council for the Establishment of Waqaf to Support Education, Research and Innovation” and the proposal made by a number of members of the Council to study the enactment of a law “to regulate the uses of biotechnology and its products and protect genetic data in the Sultanate”.
The Office reviewed the comments submitted by the parliamentary friendship committees of the Council on the proposal of “organising the mechanism of work of parliamentary friendship committees”.
The participants were briefed on a number of reports, including: a report on the activities of the Education and Research Committee during the 3rd annual sitting of the 6th term of the Council, the Report of the Assistant Secretariat General for Meetings and Committee Affairs on the work during the 3rd annual sitting , a report on the participation of the delegation of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura in the 6th general meeting of The Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) held during the period July 11-12 , 2018.
They also reviewed a followup report on the implementation of the decisions taken at the previous meeting and the follow-up report on the activities of the Committees during the period between the previous meeting and this meeting.
