MUSCAT: The inaugural SNC Lavalin Oman Oilfield Classic – Charity Golf Tournament took place at Ghala Golf Course, Muscat on October 19, 2018. The event was a gathering of 240 Oil and Gas executives and senior management from Oman and GCC countries that all came together at the award-winning golf course. The atmosphere was fun, yet competitive, with teams battling for bragging rights as the best golfers in the region.

Being one of the biggest events of its kind in Oman, it was the ideal networking opportunity for the Oil and Gas Industry professionals to come together in a relaxed environment. The Minister of Oil and Gas, Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, the patron of the event and participating with the PGA Professional Bob May in his team, made it a who’s who of the Oil and Sports Industries.

Title Sponsor SNC Lavalin and Co-Sponsors Oman Oil and Occidental Oman, along with a host of local companies, generously chose to support through sponsorship, the event programme and the various on-course challenges and the goodies that were given to all the golfers at the Oman Oilfield Classic golf event.

The charity that benefited from the generosity of all the participants was the Oman Hereditary Blood Disorder Association and with a very special donation from Occidental of a Roadshow Minivan that was custom made with a tailored interior to suit the charity’s requirements for awareness campaigns, was presented and launched at the event too.

Funds raised on the day came from the selling of Mulligans, Raffle tickets, Beat The Pro donations and amazing sporting memorabilia auctioned items.

Event organiser Mark Cameron said: “We never imagined when we started to publicise the event a few months ago, that it would grow into the massive event it did and to see so many Oil and Gas people come together was great. Our only downside was the rain that came just as we opened the driving range for our outside dinner for 360 people. There was nothing to do except persevere and make sure we ended the event on a high, which I think we did.”
