Ananda Bose and Shihabuddin to attend Malayalam Wing function
MUSCAT: Dr C. V. Ananda Bose, IAS, and Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu will be guests of honour at the Onam and Kerala Piravi joint function of ISC Malayalam Wing on November 1, 2 and 3.
The three-day event will be kicked off with the inauguration on November 1 at 7.30pm at the Grand Hall of Al Falaj Hotel. The chief guest is Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman. Dr C.V. Ananda Bose, a powerful and highly respected IAS officer is currently an Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya, India. Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, described him as a ‘man of ideas’. Dr Manmohan Singh, former prime minister of India, spotted him as an ‘inspired civil servant’. Government of Kerala praised him as the ‘Lord of ideas’ and Union Minister Shri K.J. Alphons described him as ‘the most outstanding civil servant, India has ever seen’.
Eminent civil servant, housing expert, innovator, writer and orator - he has held the rank of Secretary to Government of India, Chief Secretary, University Vice Chancellor, Chairman of the Habitat Alliance, in consultative status with UN and was member of the UN Habitat Governing Council.
Recipient of the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship, Dr Bose is also Fellow of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
Dr Bose has worked as District Collector, and Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary in various ministries such as Education, Forest and Environment, Labour, and General Administration.
Renowned as an innovator, Dr Bose is the founder of many pioneering movements and institutions in the field of affordable housing, good governance, science and technology, agriculture, rural development and education. The path breaking institutions set up by him such as Nirmithi Kendra (Building Centre), District Tourism Council and Habitat Alliance have been replicated at the state, national and global level.
He has represented India in the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva and the International Fusion Energy Organisation, ITER, France. He was Chairman of the Atomic Energy Education Society. As head of the National Museum, he was responsible for its makeover. As CEO of NAFED he made effective market intervention in checking the price rise of essential commodities.
Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu is an Indian writer, journalist, poet, speaker and television personality. He is a creative writer in Malayalam who has been writing short stories, novellas, novels, essays and poems since 1982. Most of his books have run into multiple editions with the sales of each book crossing 10,000 copies. He has been felicitated with awards several times by organisations such as the Kerala Sahitya Akademi and various other literary and cultural societies in India and abroad. He has scripted and directed many Telefilms and serials.
