Vyaniti Yoga holds relay event

MUSCAT: Vyaniti Yoga, a yoga studio started by Prema Nagesh, recently collaborat­ed with Oman Cancer Associatio­n (OCA) in organising a Suryanamas­kar relay event for Breast Cancer Awareness. The Chief Guest for the event Ms Yuthar Al Rawahi, Founder of Oman Cancer Associatio­n, who stated that practicing yoga everyday has given her hope and strength to her life.

The Guest of Honour for the event was the winner of the title Mrs India Asia Pacific Tourism, Ms Rashmi Sahay. She also stated that yoga completely changed her life and she developed a much healthier lifestyle which helped her in her many dreams. The relay which is a first of its kind and a completely different way of promoting good health in this month of “Breast Cancer Awareness”. It lasted for 12 hours, starting at 5:30am and ending at 5:30pm. It was organised to spread the word that one of the benefits of practicing Suryanamas­kars regularly is avoiding the developmen­t of cancer, specifical­ly, breast cancer.

A total of 250 people took part in this event and did a total of 30,000 Suryanamas­kars altogether. There were even senior citizens who performed a sitting version Suryanamas­kars to show that there is no limit to put ourselves to practice and bring about a healthy lifestyle.

Ranjana Joshi said, “I m a breast cancer survivor and I know how much Suryanamas­kar practice has helped me to keep up my good health after all the treatment and to prevent further complicati­ons. I would suggest all to practice 48sn everyday.”
