In­dian School Al Seeb or­gan­ises an­nual sports meet

MUS­CAT: In­dian School Al Seeb cel­e­brated its 15th An­nual Sports Day on Novem­ber 3, 2018 at the school premises with great mirth and verve.

The chief guest for the event was Vaishali Jes­rani, Cap­tain, Oman Women’s Na­tional Cricket Team, Yousuf Ab­dul­lah Salim Al Wa­haibi, Vice-Pres­i­dent, Seeb Club was the guest of hon­our.

The other dig­ni­taries present on the oc­ca­sion were Asawari De­o­ras (spe­cial in­vi­tee), Moidu A K, Pres­i­dent, School Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee, other mem­bers of the School Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee and Prin­ci­pals from other schools.

The day’s events be­gan with the Royal An­them of Oman and Na­tional An­them of In­dia fol­lowed by the un­furl­ing of the school flag. A spec­tac­u­lar, im­pres­sive and a well syn­chro­nized March Past was led by the four Houses con­tin­gents of the Mid­dle and Se­nior Wings. The chief guest de­clared the Meet open mark­ing the com­mence­ment of the cer­e­mony. There­after, the pledge was taken by Suhail Das, the Sports Cap­tain. It was fol­lowed by the light­ing of the school torch by the Vaishali Jes­rani and the ath­letes who are the na­tional level play­ers of the school re­layed the school torch in a solemn cer­e­mony.

The most in­trigu­ing as­pect, em­bel­lish­ing the event, was the splen­did field dis­plays, in­volv­ing mass stu­dent par­tic­i­pa­tion, which splat­tered on the field. The dis­plays in­cluded Pole Malkhamb (classes VIII and IX), Rain­bow Drill dis­play (VII and VIII) and Group aer­o­bics Drill Dis­play (V and VI).

The young ath­letes showed their prow­ess in the field and track events. The gath­er­ing wit­nessed the proud achiev­ers re­ceiv­ing their in­di­vid­ual as well as House tro­phies dur­ing the prize dis­tri­bu­tion cer­e­mony graced by the guests. The in­di­vid­ual cham­pi­onship tro­phies for the year 2018 were given in the fol­low­ing cat­e­gories: U-11 Boys tro­phy went to Jer­miah Aji Is­sac (Green House). Fathima Nas­rin (Blue House) won the In­di­vid­ual Cham­pi­onship tro­phy in U-11 Girls cat­e­gory, U-14 Boys tro­phy went to Dhyan Deepak (Red House), U-14 Girls Cham­pi­onship tro­phy was bagged by Amaya Menon (Yel­low House), U-17 Boys Cham­pi­onship tro­phy was shared by Adil Sabh (Red House) and Aditya S M (Yel­low House), Natasha Robert (Blue Tro­phy) won the in­di­vid­ual cham­pi­onship tro­phy in U-17 Girls tro­phy, U-19 Boys Cham­pi­onship tro­phy went to Adam Am­jad (Blue House) and U-19 Girls tro­phy was shared by Devu Joby (Yel­low House) and Sweta Shan­ti­lal (Red House).

Green House was ad­judged the Best House in March Past and the Over­all Cham­pi­onship was bagged by Yel­low House amidst a loud cheer by the stu­dents as well as the spec­ta­tors.

Vaishali Jes­rani graced the oc­ca­sion with her mo­ti­vat­ing words. She con­grat­u­lated the achiev­ers on their suc­cess and said that the pro­gramme fas­ci­nated her and this spe­cial ex­pe­ri­ence will stay in her mind for ever. She ex­horted the stu­dents to strike a bal­ance be­tween sports and aca­demics as both are equally im­por­tant.

The day ended with the low­er­ing of the flag, the na­tional an­them and a solemn prom­ise in the hearts of all to up­hold the spirit of sports­man spirit for­ever. Once again In­dian School Al Seeb stu­dents proved their in­domitable will power with the dis­play of sheer ex­cel­lence on Sports Day.
