Anti-human trafficking panel, lawyers body to help victims
MUSCAT: The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT) on Tuesday held a meeting under the chair of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, Chairman of the Committee.
During the meeting, the annual report that will be raised to the Council of Ministers has been approved. The Committee discussed a number of issues of interest as per the national action plan for the Committee 2018-2020.
The plan aims at enhancing and continuing the national efforts made to combat human trafficking, building national capacities, organising public awareness
The meeting approved the annual report that will be raised to the Council of Ministers
programmes, enhancing regional and international cooperation and increasing the capacities of the relevant organisations in the field of investigating and pursuing human trafficking incidents and providing the necessary protection to victims.
On the other hand, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the NCCHT and the Omani Lawyers Association.
The agreement was signed by the NCCHT Chairman and Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Zedjali, Chairman of Oman Lawyers Association. The memorandum aims at activating the partnership and cooperation with the civil society organisations to serve human trafficking victims and providing them with legal assistance.
