ISM organises examination readiness, stress management workshop
MUSCAT: Indian School Muscat organised examination readiness and stress management workshops for the parents and students of classes X and XII separately. Workshop for parents of the students who will be appearing for the board examination was held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Separate workshops were held for classes X and class XII on Thursday, December 6.
The sessions were conducted by Eskalin Gonsalves, Vice Principal of the Senior Section, S. Radhakrishnan, Examination in-charge and Head of the Department of Biology, Preshob Valapilakandy and Bubly Vinoy, student counsellors.
Eskalin Gonsalves addressed the parents and students explaining readiness and the need for working confidently without slipping into panic. Radhakrishnan explained about the procedure of the board examination in detail. He explained to the students how to fill in the first page of the answer sheet, things they can carry and not to carry to the examination hall, how the students should enter the examination hall, write the exams and when to leave the hall. Many students commented that the meticulous explanations gave them a clear picture to face the board exams confidently.
Bubly Devarajan conducted exam stress management workshop for the parents and students. She took examples from family situations during these days and how parents and students should handle the stressful days during exams.
In her workshop for parents, she spoke about how parents should have faith in their child’s preparation and should give them support and encouragement while appearing for the exams. In her workshop for the students, she emphasised on the need to plan the preparation by use of time table and self analysis. Bubly also spoke about relaxation techniques that could be practised in the process of preparing for the upcoming exams.
Preshob conducted a workshop for students on preparing for examinations, sensing the stress if any and dealing with the stress. He stressed on the importance of understanding the exams in terms of marking scheme and weightage distribution.
