IIA Oman announces board members

MUSCAT: The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Oman held elections for the new Board Members on 10th November 2018. The newly-elected board consists of Muneer Al Mughariry - President, Manal Al Ghazali - Vice President, Sony Tharayil – Secretary and Devesh Sharma – Treasurer. The other committee members include Dalal Al Hadrami and Mohammed Ali Sayed.

The newly elected board members will steer the Oman chapter of the IIA for the 2018-20 term. The new board’s mission is to help expand the IIA’s presence in Oman and in turn effect a positive impact on the Oman economy.

“I am very pleased with the outcome of the recent board elections and honoured to be a part of this distinguis­hed team. The 2018-2020 IIA Oman Board will continue to focus on inspiring and empowering profession­als within our industry and building stronger collaborat­ions with the aim of advancing standards and growth prospects for the entire country,” said the newly appointed president, who is the Chief Internal Auditor at Ominvest and Advisory board member at Sultan Qaboos University (Department of Accounting).

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is the internal audit profession’s most widely recognised advocate, educator, and provider of standards, guidance, and certificat­ions. Establishe­d in 1941, the IIA today serves more than 190,000 members from more than 170 countries and territorie­s. The Oman Chapter of IIA — is sponsored by the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) in the Sultanate and run by the board elected by IIA members.
