Eshraqa donates bus to Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children

-

MUSCAT: In a demonstration of its focus on community wellbeing, health and education, Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas’ social development arm, delivered a new bus purchased for the benefactors of Muscat’s Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children.

The occasion was graced by a gathering of students who joined HH Sayyida Hujaija bint Jaifar Al Said, Chairperson of the Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children, and Nailesh Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas, to mark the occasion. HH Sayyida Hujaija said, “The association provides a safe and secure environment for the ‘welfare of handicapped children’, where peers congregate, socialise, learn, and undertake many of the activities that the rest of us do every single day.

“We thank Khimji Ramdas for its contribution and urge other entities, public and private, to follow their lead; because, after all, just because a person has a physical or psychological challenge does not mean that they - as our neighbours - deserve anything less. We hope to see KR’s generous contribution emulated in the aid of those who need support in Oman”.

Children associated with the centre will now benefit from the vehicle during field trips, as well as on a day-to-day basis as it now offers them a convenient means of transport that will take them to and from the centre.

Commenting on the organisation’s donation to the association, Nailesh Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas, said, “As a steadfast supporter of education and community welfare, we are glad to deliver this new bus, as we know that it will take children places, both literally and metaphorically.

Be it excursions or increased visits to the centre where they can enjoy peer-to-peer engagements with strong social and learning outcomes, it is our privilege to have enabled greater mobility for those who sometimes struggle with it, as well as their friends and fellow benefactors of the centre.

We thank Her Highness Sayyida Hujaija bint Jaifar Al Said for her kind collaboration and praise for the admirable work of the volunteers at the centre”.
