Mwasalat opens new bus service station, gives Omani jobs a boost
The inauguration of the Integrated Bus and Coaches Maintenance and Service Station at Mwasalat’s Al Athaiba Depot is expected to create more than 200 jobs for Omanis

MUSCAT: Mwasalat, Oman’s National Transport Company, aims to provide more than 200 jobs to Omanis through the opening of its Integrated Bus and Coaches Maintenance and Service Station yesterday.
The inauguration of the new phase at Mwasalat’s Al Athaiba Depot was done under the patronage of Salim bin Mohammed Al Muaimi, Undersecretary for Transport, Ministry of Transport & Communications.
While talking to Times of Oman, Ahmed bin Ali Al Balushi, CEO at Mwasalat said that “our plan is to accommodate more than 200 jobs to Omani engineers at this workshop and have already started with the implementation of the plan by having the first batch of about 60-70.” He added that he aims to achieve the target in the span of next two to three years.
Speaking about the newly integrated workshop, Al Balushi said that he is proud of this achievement as this station will serve Mwasalat’s public transport buses and coaches.
“This is the main depot and we have renewed the workshop so that we can work in-line with the new fleet, and it is equipped with the latest equipments in the industry. It consists of modern bus and coaches, maintenance and repair workshop, parking for around 145 buses and coaches’ at the same time.
“Moreover it has special buses and coaches’ washing machine which may be the only one of its kind in the Sultanate as well as a modern Fuel Station where we have used latest technologies in terms of automatic reading of data through the RIFD with no need to fill the data the usual way. Also, we have state-of the-start fuel station where a Posi-Lock fast fueling facility is available,” Al Balushi said.
He continued saying that “we hope that by having this workshop we make sure that all our fleet is ready for service as well as practices the latest procedure in this industry.”
