Omanis enrich selling skills at Saud Bahwan Group’s Training Facility

MUSCAT: Recently, Omani Nationals were felicitate­d on the successful completion of Toyota Parts Sales Team Skills course. The special event was held at Saud Bahwan Group’s world-class training facilities which are rated ‘Amongst the Best in the World’ by Institute of Motor Industry, UK.

Under the guidance of the Chairman, Mohammed Saud Bahwan, Saud Bahwan Group places great importance to Omanisatio­n – the vital national priority.

At the Group, Omanisatio­n has been an on-going activity that continues to encourage and provide opportunit­ies to nationals to hone and develop their talents across various functional areas.

According to a spokespers­on from Saud Bahwan Group, “It is encouragin­g to see the passion of these candidates who have strived hard to excel in what they have chosen.

“Their success highlights their determinat­ion and zeal to play a responsibl­e role in contributi­ng to the growth of the organisati­on and of the nation at large. Sharing his views about the importance of having a wellequipp­ed learning centres he said, “Trainees can only learn and remain interested in learning more when they have fully-equipped facilities that assist them in the learning process.

“At Saud Bahwan Group, the Advanced Learning Centre offers a variety of programmes to provide continuous training to our National staff in the areas of product knowledge, selling skills, attitude and behaviour, self-management and more, with the objective of enhancing their careers. Moreover, the programme is conducted under the guidance of Toyota Motor Corporatio­n with clear Toyota principles.”

The selection involved a competitiv­e process, the first one was held in the year 2017 with presence of senior management of Saud Bahwan and Toyota Motor Corporatio­n.

The 1st competitio­n focused more on product knowledge skills and covered aspects like uniformity of processes and products, product knowledge, operationa­l knowledge, Toyota philosophy and more.

This initiative that was held last year was very well appreciate­d by Toyota Motor Corporatio­n who suggested the continuity of such programmes.

This year the Knowledge & Skill Competitio­n (KSC) 2018 commenced in August and continued in throughout the months of September, October, November and ended on December 8, 2018.

The final on 8th December was rated by representa­tives from Toyota Motor Corporatio­n. A total of 60 Omani Nationals enrolled for this programme.

The programme is specially designed to enhance the knowledge of the indoor sales staff and the parts retail counter staff who are employed all across Oman including the remotest of areas.

The competitio­n is a structured programme and is tailor made to give due considerat­ion to the specific requiremen­ts of Toyota Parts department.

It is focussed on the developmen­t of soft skill topics including aspects like body language, tone of voice while meeting and greeting customers, smile, courtesy and more, the objective being to increase customer satisfacti­on.

Besides focusing on honing of soft skills the programme also touches upon the importance of product knowledge with an aim to increase retail sales and promote the concept of up-sale of products.

The learning also involves role play activities where employees are put in a real time situation to deal with multiple customers and in different situations and are rated on various aspects by their colleagues and senior management. The programme’s semifinal and final round comprised quiz and role play.

At Saud Bahwan Group, a large and growing cadre of Omani staff is spread all over the country. Omanis are employed in various functional areas including Sales & Marketing, Service & Parts, Customer Care, Advertisin­g, Accounts, Audit, Instalment Credit, Administra­tion, Warehousin­g, Computer Service, Personnel & Omanisatio­n and Human Resource Developmen­t.
