Investors sought for sea taxi project
Oman’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has invited people to invest in the Musandam sea taxi project.
“The project will provide a safe and comfortable means of public transport with regular daily schedules,” said Raid Al Shihi, Chairman of the board of directors of the Musandam Chamber.
The OCCI in Musandam Governorate announced, “The Musandam Chamber invites its esteemed members who wish to invest in the Musandam Taxi project. [This will be done] according to the maritime routes and economic feasibility study prepared by Asyad, and the investor will benefit from the facilities, incentives, and support provided by Oman Development Bank and Al Raffd Fund.”
The project targets the wilayat of Khasab, to link it to the governorate’s villages (Kamzar, Lima and Khor Shan), which are not connected by overland roads.
The sea taxi service fees have not been announced as the investor company will submit its proposal to the Chamber over the economic feasibility of the project and ensure it is suitable for the residents of the region.
“The Chamber will contact those who have registered and will coordinate a meeting where all the details of the project will be presented,” the Chamber added in its statement. “Through the project, the Chamber is seeking to create investment and job opportunities and we are now gathering the requests of investors interested in the project,” Mohammed Al Shihi, Manager of the OCCI in the Musandam governorate branch, said.
