ROYAL OMAN POLICE CELEBRATES ANNUAL DAY

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander, conferred the excellent service medals on a number of senior Royal Oman Police (ROP) officers.

The medals were conferred by Lt. Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs in a special celebratio­n held at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences (SQAPS) on the occasion of ROP Day which falls on January 5 each year.

The Inspector General of Police and Customs congratula­ted officers of this grant and pointed out that it stems from His Majesty’s appreciati­on of the continuous efforts done by ROP personnel to ensure dignity for this nation under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander.

Lt. Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs also pinned Efficiency Medal on a number of senior Royal Oman Police officers and honoured some long serving officers.

Meanwhile, the ROP on Sunday celebrated its annual day, which falls on January 5 every year, at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences (SQAPS) in Nizwa.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower in the presence of a number of minister, advisors, Lt. Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, senior officials at armed forces and the security services, members of the State Council and the Majlis A’Shura. A military parade was also held to mark this occasion.

The parade began with ROP band playing the Royal Anthem. The chief guest distribute­d awards to top graduates from the 42nd batch of cadet officers.

The 41st batch handed over the banner of SQAPS to the 42nd batch of the Police College.

The graduates then sang the ROP anthem and took the oath of loyalty and allegiance while ROP band played the Royal Anthem. The ceremony was attended by the governor of Dakhiliyah, walis, judges, directors of the government department­s, sheikhs, commission­ed and non-commission­ed officers.
