Sumitomo Rubber Group committed to zero deforestation
MUSCAT: In line with its participation in the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) announced recently, Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI) of Japan, the manufacturers of premium Sumitomo Tyres and other products, has adopted a sustainable natural rubber policy, in its quest to preserve the environment.
Since joining the Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiative (SNRi) established by the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) in October 2016, Sumitomo Rubber Industries said it has pursued independent sustainability environment-friendly efforts.
By participating in the GPSNR, Sumitomo said it is committed “not only to promoting more proactive, collaborative efforts that involve both supply chains and various other stakeholders, but also to redoubling our own efforts toward attaining natural rubber sustainability,” in accordance with its own sustainable natural rubber policy.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries said its new policy includes commitments to zero deforestation and environmental considerations (reducing its environmental footprint), respecting human rights, ensuring thorough compliance, enhancing transparency and traceability, improving agricultural productivity, and promoting health and safety considerations.
Headquartered in Kobe, Japan, and represented in 108 locations in 65 countries across the globe, and with manufacturing facilities in Brazil, South Africa, Turkey, China and Thailand, Sumitomo Tyres are a truly international brand, competing on the basis of product value and real world performance.
In Oman, Sumitomo Tyres are available at Eint Automotive LLC, a division of the highly successful Towell Group.
