More than 320,000 register for fuel subsidy system in Oman

MUSCAT: A total of 327,283 citizens registered for the national fuel subsidy programme as of January 10, 2019, according to a report issued by the National Subsidy System.

The report stated that North and South Batinah were the most fuelconsum­ing provinces, consuming 37.08 per cent of all subsidised fuel.

They were followed by Ad Dakhiliyah at 16.5 per cent, Muscat with 15.82 per cent, and North and South Al Sharqiyah with 13.67 per cent. Al Dhahirah consumed 8.9 per cent, while Dhofar, Al Buraimi, Al Wusta and Musandam accounted for 4.7 per cent, 2.3 per cent, 0.5 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respective­ly.

Those who meet the requiremen­ts to get the subsidy may register at system www.nss.gov.om.

They are required to fill a form and then collect the fuel subsidy card from their preferred petrol station. People who wish to register may also read the instructio­ns given on the website nss.gov.om.

Meanwhile the recently announced fuel prices for the month of January 2019 witnessed a drop. The prices of M91, M95, and diesel have all dropped, the National Subsidy System revealed.

According to the new list, M91 is priced at 198 baisas per litre, a drop from 211 baisas per litre of last month. The price of M95 dropped from 223 baisas per litre in December to 209 baisas per litre in January. Diesel is at 238 baisas per litre down from 251 baisas.
