MSM index ends lower

Top gainer was Muscat Finance which closed higher 3.49% while the top loser was Almaha Ceramics which closed lower by 4.76%.

MUSCAT: The MSM30 index ended lower at 4,258.10 points by 0.51 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 590.74 points, down by 0.89 per cent. Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Muscat Finance which closed higher by 3.49 per cent while the top loser was Almaha Ceramics which closed lower by 4.76 per cent.

A total number of 435 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR2.16 million with more than 13.72 million shares changing hands. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR179,000, followed by Omani investors for OMR139,000 while GCC and Arab were net sellers for OMR318,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index lost 0.38 per cent to at 6,817.22 points. Muscat Finance was up 3.49 per cent. Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Bank Nizwa, Taageer Finance and Bank Muscat were down by 2.17 per cent, 1.16 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.99 per cent respective­ly. Industrial Index lost 1.12 per cent to close at 4,972.64 points. Oman Fisheries was up by 1.82 per cent. Almaha Ceramics, Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, Oman Flour Mills and Galfar Engineerin­g were down by 4.76 per cent, 2.97 per cent, 2.41 per cent, 1.81 per cent and 1.23 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index lost 0.52 per cent to close at 2,227.40 points. Muscat City Desalinati­on was up by 0.78 per cent. Phoenix Power, OIFC, Renaissanc­e Services, National Gas and Ooredoo were down by 2.97 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 1.7 per cent, 0.38 per cent and 0.36 per cent respective­ly.
