MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, represented by Sohar Industrial City, is all set to organise the Omani Products Exhibition at China Downtown Mall in Sohar next Monday under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Nader bin Mohammed bin Abbas Al Said. The exhibition comes in line with the Sultanate’s Industry Day, to commemorate the visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to Rusayl Industrial City on February 9, 1991.

‘Made in Oman’

Forty-five companies will participate in the exhibition that will continue until February 13. This exhibition comes along the lines of the “Made in Oman” Campaign, which kicked off in 2008 as a national initiative to promote Omani products in cooperation with various public and private bodies. The campaign targets consumers in the local and foreign markets to encourage them to support and purchase locally manufactured products. Managed by Madayn, in cooperation with various public and private bodies, the campaign endeavours to increase confidence in locally manufactured products, enable consumers to make an informed choice about Omani products in their purchasing lists, and shed light on the quality of these products.

The core aspects of the campaign’s objectives emphasise on engendering national pride, encouraging consumers—individuals and organisations—to choose locally manufactured products and services, underscoring the competent capabilities of Omani products to compete locally and internationally, and emphasising the importance of buying Omani products and the direct contribution to the national economy.

Supporting Omani products plays a key role in the advancement of the Sultanate’s industrial sector, creation of employment opportunities, dissemination of awareness on the economic, environmental and social benefits of buying locally made products and services, and the reduction of fuel consumption, among other benefits.
