Oman’s share index ends lower marginally

Galfar Engineerin­g, up 6.67 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Muscat Gases, which lost 5.13 per cent.

MUSCAT: The MSM30 index stood lower and closed at 4,053.36 points, down by 0.05 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 554.64 points, down by 0.13 per cent. Galfar Engineerin­g was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. Galfar Engineerin­g, up 6.67 per cent, was the top gainer while the top loser was Muscat Gases, which lost 5.13 per cent.

A total number of 879 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR4.40 million with more than 31.98 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 5 declined and 17 remained unchanged, on Sunday. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR28,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR29,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed lower by 0.05 per cent at 6,553.55 points. Gulf Invest Services Holding, Muscat Finance and Al Anwar Holding were up by 3.51 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 1.12 per cent respective­ly. Alizz Islamic Bank was down by 2.3 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index was up by 0.73 per cent at 4,808.38 points. Galfar Engineerin­g, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Oman Fisheries were up by 6.67 per cent, 3.9 per cent and 1.89 per cent respective­ly. Oman Cement was down by 1.41 per cent.

Services Index closed lower by 0.21 per cent at 2,063.91 points. OIFC, Al Batinah Power and Muscat City Desalinati­on were up by 3.8 per cent, 2.22 per cent and 0.81 per cent respective­ly. Muscat Gases, Renaissanc­e Services and National Gas were down 5.13 per cent, 3.03 per cent and 2.4 per cent respective­ly.
