Venezuela opposition leader calls for action

MUSCAT: Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó called for action in his country during a recent meeting of the Lima Group.
Guaidó said, “Right now there are millions of Venezuelans in danger of death. I am the Acting President of a country that dies of hunger and is kidnapped by criminals. It is time to escalate the concern and consider the highest levels of pressure and action.
“Millions of Venezuelans, subjected to the worst hyperinflation in the entire history of the region, and whose lives are worthless to the usurpers of power, do not expect less.
“(They) do not expect less from me, do not expect less from you. So let’s not give them less than they deserve,” he declared.
Violence
His comments follow a weekend of clashes at the Venezuela’s borders with Colombia and Brazil, where activists and protesters attempted to bring in humanitarian aid only to be met with violence by pro-government soldiers and militia. Referencing the events that took the lives of at least two people, Guaidó added, “We will continue fighting for our country. We know that the outlaw regime only has left paramilitary hit men who threaten our lives.
“It’s time to change the story, it’s time to do something. And if it depends on us, know for sure that we will do it,” he declared.
