RAFO commander leaves for Pakistan to discuss relations

MUSCAT: A delegation led by the Commander Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) recently left Seeb Airbase for Pakistan, waved off by Ali Javed, Ambassador to Oman.

Air Vice Marshal Matar bin Ali Al Obaidani, Commander Royal Air Force of Oman (CRAFO) headed to Pakistan for a four-day visit, and looked forward to carrying out a busy schedule while commenting that the outreach offers another valuable opportunit­y to not just further cooperatio­n between two Air Forces but also develop the full range of bilateral relations.

The visit is part of existing defence cooperatio­n and is by invitation of Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force, during his visit to Oman during September 8-10, 2018.

The period March 2018 – March 2019 saw unpreceden­ted growth in bilateral parliament­ary, political and defence relations, beginning with the visits of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Abbasi in March and July 2018. Moreover, Air Chief Marshal Khan and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Hayat came to the Sultanate in September 2018 and February 2019, respective­ly.

Other visits during the same period included Chairman Senate of Pakistan, coinciding with Sultanate’s national day (November 18-22, 2018) and Foreign Minister, who co-chaired the 7th Joint Commission (January 2931, 2019).

The ‘Pak-Oman Friendship Group’ in the Senate of Pakistan consisting of Senators Mir Kabeer and Ashok Kumar visited in (March 17-21) followed by the Minister for Religious Affairs Dr. Noor ul Haq Qadri (March 24-25), whose visit coincided with ‘Pakistan Day’ celebratio­ns in Oman.

In addition to reviewing a ‘Guard of Honour’ Commander Royal Air Force of Oman will meet with all the Pakistan Armed Forces leadership, namely Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Hayat, Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Abbasi.
