Bonanza for movie lovers at Indian Film Week this month

- Times News Service

Film enthusiasts who wish to know more about the diversity of Indian cinema will be able to enjoy movies for only OMR2 during Indian Film Week, 18-25 April.

The event will feature upcoming releases such as Kalank and The Tashkent Files. Bollywood films aside, many regional language features will also be screened as part of the event, and Marielle Shouaib, CEO of Lunar Cinemas, said preparations had been underway for some time.

“We have been thinking about this for a while and every time we approached the sponsors, they would express their interest in it. We had wanted to do this previously, but we were unable to do so because of timing issues,” she told Times of Oman.

“However, now it’s all organised and I encourage everyone to come and see the Indian movies we have.”

“We are trying to get some Indian film stars to this event, but we are still waiting on confirmation, because they may be tied up with other commitments at that time,” added Shouaib. “We have not forgotten our customers of course, and we have an exclusive offer in our cinemas for all the movies of Indian Film Week. Any customer can see a movie, along with popcorn and a drink, for just OMR 2. We also have some entertainment shows on that weekend.”

Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Oman, Indian Film Week will be held at all three Lunar Cinemas outlets in the Sultanate – at Al Araimi Complex in Qurum, Mars Shopping Centre in Barka, and Al Muzn Mall in Al Hail.

Customers also can win prizes through a raffle draw and visit live food stations during the event.
