Mantheri in Russia, diverse avenues of bilateral cooperation discussed
MOSCOW: Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council met yesterday with Valentina Matviyenko, the Russian Federation Council Speaker at the Council’s headquarters in Moscow.
The Chairman of the State Council said that the visit comes within the framework of mutual visits to strengthen the existing friendly relations between Oman and Russia, stressing that the Sultanate’s keen interest in developing bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields, pointing out that in terms of investment, the Sultanate is working to create a suitable environment for investors and provide all facilities for them.
He highlighted the promising prospects for cooperation in many other areas, including scientific, research and technology, as well as parliamentary cooperation.
For her part the Speaker of the Russian Federation Coucil, said that Russia and the Sultanate have good relations, hoping that the visit will contribute to strengthening these relations by opening new horizons for bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.
She also praised the Sultanate’s efforts under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to preserve the stability of the region and contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security. She also praised the Sultanate’s achievements in development and civilisation, noting that it had the opportunity to see these achievements during her visit to the Sultanate about three years ago.
During the meeting, they reviewed means of enhancing relations between the two friendly countries and developing cooperation in all fields, especially in the parliamentary aspects, in addition to exchanging views on issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the Chairman of the State Council and a number of members of the Russian Federation Council.
Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council and his accompanying delegation, arrived earlier in the day in the Russian Federation on an official visit lasting several days.
The delegation accompanying the Chairman of the State Council in his visit to the Russian Federation includes Nada bint Hassan Al Jamaliya, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Masheikhy, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Harthy, Dr. Hassan bin Ali Al Madhani and Hon. Dr. Badriya bint Ibrahim Al Shehia members of the Council.
