Oman Cricket meet approves plan of action for 2019
MUSCAT: Appreciating a highly eventful 2018, Oman Cricket’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) approved a busy calendar of events and activities for the year 2019 at Al Falaj Hotel on Monday.
Various national teams are scheduled to take part in a number of ICC and ACC tournaments including Oman national side taking part in the all-important ICC WCL Division Two in Namibia and women’s team touring UK.
Chaired by Kanak Khimji, OC Board Chairman, the AGM was briefed by Madhu Jesrani, OC Secretary, about the landmark cricket events and achievements in the previous year including hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour, inauguration of Oman Cricket Academy (OCA), winning the ICC World Cricket league Division Three without losing a match on its home turf and hosting the ACC T20 Championship.
Keen to improve its service standards all the time, Oman Cricket has included several coaching, umpiring and scoring courses in the 2019 plan of activities.
Regional cricket development in Sohar and Salalah and grounds development in Amerat have also been budgeted for the new calendar year.
The AGM was apprised of Oman Cricket’s efforts to improve Omani players’ standard and its budgetary allocations to achieve the objective also agreed to look into ways for further development of Omani cricket players. Maganlal Thacker & Co was once again appointed auditors for the year 2019. The Board secretary thanked the media and sponsors for their continued support
