Malayalam Wing selects new management committee for 2019/20

MUSCAT: The new managing committee members of the Indian Social Club (ISC) Malayalam Wing for the year 2019/20, assumed office on April 1.

The new managing committee members are Abraham Mathew, Convener, Sreekumar P, Coconvener, Ajith Kumar Menon V, Treasurer, Lekha Vinod, Ladies wing, Rajesh K, Cultural wing, Madu Sudhanan EG, Literary wing, Prasad G Karanaver, Social welfare, Shaheer TK, Entertainment & sports, Mathew Thomas, Drama & Music wing.

Oman hosts a large Keralite population and while many are quite adept at taking care themselves, many get into different kinds of problems, money related and health related, which put them into embarrassing situation. The wing is committed in keenly liaising with the Indian embassy and also with the Kerala government on such issues and extending help to those who are in need. It will be looking at case to case on its merits and rendering assistance in complete compliance with the law of the land. Further, Malayalam Wind will be organising programmes, depicting the rich culture and heritage of India, particularly Kerala. It vouches to respond to any genuine humanitarian cause brought to its notice.

The wing is in the process of organising the Onam competitions 2019, which is scheduled to commence from May 2 and will last until May end. The first phase of the competitions will be conducted for music, arts and literary items only. The rest of the items like dance, group items etc, etc are scheduled after the summer vacation of the schools in the months of August/September.

In the past, the national festival and the harvest festival of Kerala the Onam is celebrated by Malayalam Wing in a festive mood. The grand finale of Onam celebration is scheduled to be held on September 19 and 20 and will be concluded with the traditional Onasadhya on September 21 at Al Falaj Grand Hall, Ruwi.
