Medical Oncology Centre at Burjeel Hospital opens

The centre was inaugurate­d by His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said and was also attended by various dignitarie­s from ministries and corporates.

MUSCAT: VPS Healthcare Oman opened its Medical Oncology Centre at Burjeel Hospital in Al Khuwair on April 11.

“The focus on oncology has been initiated in the group level at VPS since the past few years. I am proud to announce the launch of Medical Oncology service in Burjeel Hospital, Muscat - a first of its kind and am thankful to the Government of Oman for placing their trust in us to launch this service in the private sector,” said Dr V. P. Shamsheer, chairman and managing director, VPS Healthcare Group.

The centre was inaugurate­d by His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said and was also attended by various dignitarie­s from ministries and corporates.

“Our sincere gratitude to the guidance from Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health and to all the leaders from the Ministry of Health for their steadfast support in making these projects a reality,” mentioned D. Rohil Raghavan, Regional CEO VPS Healthcare Oman.

Specialist Medical Oncologist, Dr Altaf Ali – a certified medical oncologist, DNB, MD will be at the helm of the cancer care centre at Burjeel. “Our aim is to ensure that people of Oman get Medical Oncology treatment of internatio­nal standards,” said Dr Altaf. “We have a full-fledged team including oncology pharmacist and oncology nurses to give comprehens­ive care in this field,” he added further.

Burjeel Hospital, the winner of last year’s Best Private Hospital in Oman, is part of the VPS group.
