MSM index ends higher

The top gainer was Al Madina Investment which closed higher by 8.33% while top loser was Oman Qatar Insurance which closed lower 8.70%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 3,889.57 points, up 0.54%. The Shariah Index closed up 0.12% at 528.55 points. Al Madina Investment, up 8.33%, was the top gainer. Oman Qatar Insurance, down 8.70%, was the top loser. Sohar Internatio­nal Bank was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as turnover.

A total number of 538 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR 2.7 million with more than 18.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 9 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR 625,000 while GCC and Arab Investors were net sellers for OMR 589,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR 36,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,373.60 points, up 0.66%. Al Madina Investment, HSBC Bank Oman, Bank Muscat, Gulf Investment Services, and Bank Nizwa were up by 8.33%, 2.46%, 1.86%, 1.33%, and 1.16% respective­ly. Oman Qatar Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, and Al Anwar Holding were down by 8.70%, 2.33%, 1.33%, 1.28%, and 1.10% respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4,474.30 points, down 0.16%. Raysut Cement was up 0.58%. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Oman Fisheries were down 2.00%, and 1.18% respective­ly.

Services index closed higher by 0.08% at 1,845.54 points. Al Jazeera Services, Ooredoo, and Omantel were up 1.64%, 1.25%, and 0.35% respective­ly. Renaissanc­e Services and OIFC were down by 1.06%, and 0.87% respective­ly.
