MSM index closes higher marginally

The top gainer was Oman Qatar Insurance which closed higher by 8.33% while top loser was Al Madina Investment which closed lower 3.85%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 3,929.36 points, up 1.02 per cent. The Shariah index closed up 0.73 per cent at 532.40 points. Oman Qatar Insurance, up 8.33 per cent, was the top gainer. Al Madina Investment, down 3.85 per cent, was the top loser.

Sohar Internatio­nal Bank was the most active in terms of number of shares traded National Bank of Oman was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 508 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR 1.84 million with more than 12.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 20 advanced, 5 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 251,000 while domestic Investors were net buyers for OMR 186,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR 65,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,465.15 points, up 1.44 per cent. Oman Qatar Insurance, Bank Nizwa, Sohar Internatio­nal Bank, Alizz Islamic Bank, and Oman & Emirates Investment Holding were up by 8.33 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.78 per cent, and 2.70 per cent respective­ly. Al Madina Investment and Gulf Investment Services were down by 3.85 per cent and 2.63 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial index closed at 4,474.96 points, up 0.01 per cent. Oman Fisheries, Oman Cement, and Raysut Cement were up 1.19 per cent, 0.90 , and 0.58% respective­ly. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Galfar Engineerin­g were down 1.23%, and 1.02% respective­ly.

Services index closed higher by 0.22% at 1,849.64 points. Al Jazeera Services, Ooredoo, Omantel, and Dhofar Generating Company were up 1.61%, 1.64%, 0.82%, and 0.52% respective­ly. OIFC was down 0.88% before closing at OMR 0.113.
