Anti-corruption teams to further boost cooperation
The GCC meeting focussed on the importance of cooperation between the agencies responsible for fighting corruption in the GCC countries
MUSCAT: Oman’s State Audit Institution (SAI) is spearheading a meeting involving all of the Gulf Cooperation Council agencies responsible for protecting their financial integrity and combating corruption.
Sheikh Nasser bin Hilal bin Nasser Al Mawali, Chairman of SAI Oman, received the heads of the delegations participating in the fourth meeting of the agencies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC Arab states, as well as the delegation from the GCC Secretariat General at the SAI Headquarters in Al Bustan.
Nasser bin Hamood Al Rawahi, Deputy Chairman of the State Audit Institution and a number of specialists attended the meeting. The reception of the delegations comes on the sidelines of the meeting, which is being hosted by the Sultanate. At the meeting’s commencement, Sheikh Nasser Al Mawali welcomed the heads of the delegations, stressing the great importance of cooperation between the agencies responsible for protecting integrity and fighting corruption in the GCC, both in sharing experiences and in building functional competencies, as well as in preparing laws and unified guidance to contribute to enhancing their performance, ultimately allowing them to achieve comprehensive development in the region.
Moreover, he praised the role of the GCC Secretariat–General in efficiently coordinating the work. The chairman emphasised the careful consideration given by SAI Oman to cooperation and active contribution in the relevant fields of protecting integrity and combating corruption, by cooperating with its GCC peers.
The heads of the delegations extended their thanks to the Sultanate of Oman for hosting the meeting and for its generous hospitality. In addition, they expressed their appreciation to the State Audit Institution Oman for its preparation and organisation of the meeting, stressing the importance of the role of the Sultanate in the fields of regional cooperation and exchange of experience and expertise.
