MSM index ends higher

The top gainer was Muscat Gases which closed higher by 9.93% while top loser was Galfar Engineerin­g which closed lower 2.35%.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed up 0.31% at 3,997.88 points. The Shariah Index closed up 0.04% at 534.14 points. Muscat Gases, up 9.93%, was the top gainer. Galfar Engineerin­g, down 2.35%, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Golden Sukuk was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 535 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 2.74 million with more than 13.34 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 14 advanced, 7 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR 414,000 while foreign investors were buyers for OMR 410,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR 4,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,552.32 points, up 0.26%. Oman United Insurance, National Bank of Oman, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, OMINVEST, and Bank Muscat were up by 2.91%, 2.25%, 1.27%, 0.58%, and 0.45% respective­ly. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Gulf Investment Services Holding, Al Batinah Developmen­t & Investment Holding, Oman Qatar Insurance, and Bank Dhofar were down by 2.22%, 1.35%, 1.23%, 1.11%, and 0.71% respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4,386.19 points, down 0.30%. There were no gainers from the sector. Galfar Engineerin­g and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 2.35%, and 2.06% respective­ly.

Services index closed up 0.83% at 1,901.74 points. Muscat Gases, Muscat City Desalinati­on, National Gas, Al Batinah Power, and Al Suwadi Power were up by 9.93%, 9.26%, 4.22%, 2.86%, and 2.82% respective­ly. There were no losers from the sector.
