MSM index ends marginally higher

The top gainer was Oman Cement which closed higher by 5.69 per cent while the top loser was Oman Qatar Insurance which closed lower by 3.19 per cent.

MUSCAT: MSM30 index closed at 4,007.47, up by 0.19 per cent. The Sharia Index closed up by 0.58 per cent at 544.02 points. Oman Cement, up 5.69 per cent, was the top gainer.

Oman Qatar Insurance, down 3.19 per cent, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ominvest Perpetual bonds were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 278 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 3.22 million with more than 13.53 million shares changing hands. Out of 28 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 6 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 157,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR 153,000 followed by foreign investors for

OMR 4,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,491.53 points, up 0.04 per cent. Oman United Insurance and Bank Muscat were up by 0.7 per cent and 0.45 per cent respective­ly. Oman Qatar Insurance was the only loser and closed lower by 3.19 per cent.

Industrial Index closed at 4,369.82 points, up 1.20 per cent. Oman Cement, Raysut Cement, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were up by 5.69 per cent, 5 per cent, and 1.92 per cent respective­ly. Oman Fisheries was the only loser and was down 1.25 per cent.

Services index closed down 0.14 per cent at 1,907.17 points. OIFC was up 0.88 per cent. SMN Power Holding, Phoenix Power, Ooredoo, and Renaissanc­e Services were down by 2.82per cent, 1.33 per cent, 0.38 per cent, and 0.37 per cent respective­ly.
