MSM index ends flat

Al Madina Takaful, up 4.11 per cent, was the top gainer while United Power, down 9.82 per cent, was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSM index closed at 3,603.99 points, flat 0.00 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.08 per cent at 511.39 points.

Al Madina Takaful, up 4.11 per cent, was the top gainer while United Power, down 9.82 per cent, was the top loser.

Shares of Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Ooredoo was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 314 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.65 million, with more than 5.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 9 declined and 25 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR181,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR153,000 followed by foreign investors for

OMR28,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,576.0 points, up by 0.14 per cent. Al Madina Takaful, Gulf Investment, Bank Muscat and National Bank of Oman were up by 4.11 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively. National Finance, Taageer Finance and Bank Nizwa were down by 8.96 per cent, 2.35 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4143.70, points, up 0.04 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel was up by 0.78 per cent.

Services index was down by 0.19 per cent before closing at 1,567.37 points. Muscat City was up by 2.11 per cent. United Power, Sohar Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Jazeera Service and Renaissance Service were down by 9.82 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.86 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
