MSM index ends higher

Galfar Engineerin­g, up 2.56 per cent, was the top gainer, while OIFC, down 1.16 per cent, was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSM index closed at 3,615.18 points, up 0.43 per cent from previous close.

The Sharia Index ended up 0.24 per cent at 515.13 points. Galfar Engineerin­g, up 2.56 per cent, was the top gainer, while OIFC, down 1.16 per cent, was the top loser.

Shares of Al Jazeera Steel was the most active in terms of number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 251 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR0.49 million, with more than 3.0 million shares changing hands.

Out of 30 traded stocks, 11 advanced, 1 declined and 18 remained unchanged.

At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR34,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR29,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR5,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,586.04 points, up by 0.39 per cent. Sohar Internatio­nal Bank, Gulf Investment, National Bank of Oman and Bank Muscat were up by 2.22 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 0.65 per cent and 0.52 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 4203.26, points, up 0.24 per cent. Galfar Engineerin­g, Al Jazeera Steel, National Aluminium and Raysut Cement were up by 2.56 per cent, 1.46 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 0.6 per cent respective­ly.

Services index was up by 0.17 per cent before closing at 1,567.50 points. Al Batinah Power, Al Jazeera Service and Omantel were up by 2.04 per cent, 1.83 per cent and 0.57 per cent respective­ly. OIFC was down by 1.16 per cent.
