‘VAT payments also due on unsold goods’

1Value added tax is due on stocks of goods that have been bought by companies to be sold to customers, even if they remain in storage, once that company has ceased operations.

CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah el Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt received Abdullah Nassir Al Rahbi, who presented his credential­s as the Sultanate’s ambassador to Egypt on Monday.

During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to President el Sisi along with His Majesty’s best wishes of good health and well-being to the Egyptian President and people.

The Egyptian President asked the ambassador to convey his greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani people.

President el Sisi pledged support for the developmen­t of bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, the ambassador expressed his keenness on cementing ties between Oman and Egypt at all levels.

MUSCAT: Education Committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) held a meeting with Sheikh Nasr bin Amer Al Hosni, Undersecre­tary for Labour at the Ministry of Labour.

The meeting took place in the presence of Ridha bin Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of OCCI with the participat­ion of Dr Faisal bin Abdullah Al Farsi, Director General of the Public Authority for Social Insurance) and members of Education Committees, other OCCI branches in the Governorat­es.

They discussed the challenges facing the educationa­l institutio­ns at the private sector, the necessity for provision of facilities and incentives to owners of nursery schools and the schools for memorisati­on of the Holy Quran and the various private schools who are wholly devoted to management of their schools and who maintain high percentage­s in employment of the national cadre and to change the classifica­tion of the private schools activity from a commercial activity to educationa­l service activity.
