Omantel, WeCom team up to provide virtual PBX service

-

MUSCAT: Omantel, the Sultanate of Oman’s first and leading integrated telecommunications and ICT services provider, has announced its partnership with WeCom to launch virtual PBX service, on the sidelines of GITEX 2021 in Dubai.

The initiative aims to support small and medium businesses as well as the government across the Sultanate. The service, named Virtual PBX, is a type of IP Telephony system, which requires no “on-site” equipment except phones devices if needed and a secured internet connection. It supports office phones, smartphones and laptops/desktops.

The virtual PBX solution will provide customers with a pay-asyou-go model, thus eliminating the need to invest upfront on IP Telephony infrastructure as the current options in the market.

Customers can scale up and scale down their number of users or branches as per their business requirements and Omantel will provide the ease of being a onestop-shop for all telecom needs including SIP services, IP telephony solutions (backend, desk phones etc.), internet services, conferencing solution and many more.

Eng. Baha Al Lawati, Enterprise Unit Vice President at Omantel, said, “Customers using the new virtual PBX product will be able to connect to the PBX platform hosted within Oman through secured connections and enjoy the voice services along with PBX features on the go. As always Omantel ICT is one step ahead in bringing future technologies in the Oman market to help local businesses to grow.”

Salim Al Maamari, CEO at Wecom said, “This partnership with Omantel has been a crucial step for WeCom to play an active role in liberating the corporate sector by expanding the number of options available. Our virtual PBX offering offers ease, agility and reliability that many businesses will come to expect and now with this partnership with Omantel’s expansive clientele we are excited about the potential this will bring to Omantel’s clients in particular and the sector as a whole.”
