Bank Muscat provides external postgradua­te scholarshi­ps to 13 staff

This year’s external scholarshi­ps are in addition to the 68 internal scholarshi­ps to pursue higher studies within Oman

MUSCAT: In line with its pioneering role in the developmen­t of Omani human resources, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, has announced external postgradua­te scholarshi­ps for 13 talented employees in 2022.

This year’s external scholarshi­ps are in addition to the 68 internal scholarshi­ps to pursue higher studies within Oman. In 2021, the bank gave 7 external scholarshi­ps and 95 internal ones to its employees. Bank Muscat makes opportunit­ies available for staff to pursue part-time diplomas / Bachelors programmes at local colleges and universiti­es as well as postgradua­te programmes at leading internatio­nal business schools as part of a strategic plan to create a pipeline of leaders not just for itself, but also for the overall growth and developmen­t of the nation.

Bank Muscat, which has an Omanisatio­n ratio of over 94%, recognises that employees are its core strength and constantly invests resources to further develop their skills and help them reach their peak potential. From the moment of joining the bank, suitable training and developmen­t opportunit­ies are provided to make employees skilled in work-related processes and procedures so that they can deliver to the best of their abilities. The bank is responsive to employee feedback and strives to ensure a profession­al work environmen­t that is based on fair and equal opportunit­ies to all employees, cutting-edge technology and global financial best practices.

Bank Muscat also provides numerous opportunit­ies for employees to pursue undergradu­ate, postgradua­te and profession­al certificat­ions through scholarshi­ps locally, online and overseas. Besides the 13 scholarshi­ps, the bank provided as well educationa­l assistance for 68 employees were provided to pursue higher studies within Oman (Diploma / Bachelors / Masters). As of 2022, 582 employees have completed their studies in Oman while 158 employees are currently enrolled in different higher education programmes. As of date, 72 overseas scholarshi­ps have been granted by the bank while 818 employees have completed their profession­al certificat­ions with another 496 employees currently enrolled.

Earlier in 2022, the bank successful­ly participat­ed in the Career and Training Opportunit­ies Fair organized by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).

This year the bank has already recruited 150 Omanis till date, while in 2021, 265 Omanis were recruited to support the Sultanate’s

job creation initiative­s.

The bank’s Jadara Academy, which is accredited by the Global Associatio­n of Corporate Universiti­es and Academics, provides a comprehens­ive platform and framework for all staff learning and developmen­t programmes. In 2021, the Jadara Academy was able to deliver over 15,000 learning opportunit­ies to over 3,800 employees across various functional and knowledge areas.

The bank has been greatly encouraged by the results of this continuous investment in Omani human resources.
