Majan Electricity strengthens its efforts to deal with effects of weather condition Sail Al Khaseeb
MUSCAT: During the past few days, many regions in the Sultanate of Oman were affected by the weather condition Sail Al Khaseeb.
Majan Electricity Company has raised its readiness to deal with the effects of the weather condition on its coverage areas and has taken various measures to ensure the continuity of electricity services to its customers. This has had a significant impact on the resumption of electricity in all affected areas in record time.
Majan Electricity had begun its procedures to deal with the impact of the weather situation by activating the role of the Crisis Management Committee. The committee held a meeting to discuss the company’s emergency plans. Field visits to some of the company’s main stations were conducted to check that they would not be affected by the weather conditions and to ensure business continuity.
Majan Electricity Company, which is licensed to distribute electricity in the governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi and Musandam, had an emergency plan in place. The plan included activating the full readiness of the operations and maintenance teams to deal with emergency disconnections and raise the capacity of the contact centre to receive an increase in calls from customers.
It also involved coordinating with control centre engineers to ensure that all reports are dealt with in a record period of time and that necessary equipment in repairing the damage caused to the network is provided.
In the interest of everyone’s safety, the company also strengthened its efforts in raising awareness of health and safety procedures. Several awareness campaigns were conducted and messages were sent to customers to spread information about the dangers caused by extreme weather conditions on electricity, how to deal with these dangers as well as methods to avoid them.
The campaigns also focused on the most effective methods of communicating with Majan Electricity Company and other emergency response associations.
It is also worth noting that the company was able to repair all the damages caused to the network and restore electricity to all customers in a short period of time.
