MSX index ends higher

Gulf Mushroom Products, up 9.60 per cent, was the top gainer while Sohar Power, down 15.00 per cent, was the top loser

The MSX index closed at 4,709.60 points, up by 0.13 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.05 per cent at 486.77 points. Gulf Mushroom Products, up 9.60 per cent, was the top gainer while Sohar Power, down 15.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of the Oman Cables Industry were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 268 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR6.81 million, with more than 9.28 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded securities, 16 advanced, 9 declined, and 12 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR230,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR158,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR72,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,550.49 points, up 0 per cent. Prices of Bank Dhofar, National Finance, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Anwar Investment, and Bank Muscat were up by 3.33 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 1.09 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Oman Arab Bank, National Bank Oman, Takaful Oman, Global Financial Investment­s, and Sohar Internatio­nal Bank were down by 9.60 per cent, 3.29 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 1.70 per cent and 0.98 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 5,897.97 points, up 0.73 per cent. Prices of Gulf Mushroom Products, Constructi­on Materials, Galfar Engineerin­g, Oman Flour Mills, and Oman Fisheries were up by 9.60 per cent, 6.76 per cent, 2.81 per cent, 2.53 per cent and 2.27 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index was up by 0.49 per cent before closing at 1,690.02 points.
