MSX index ends higher

OIFC, up 2.70 per cent, was the top gainer while Barka Water & Power Company, down 8.86 per cent, was the top loser

The MSX index closed at 4,715.84 points, up by 0.23 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.82 per cent at 474.21 points. OIFC, up 2.70 per cent, was the top gainer while Barka Water & Power Company, down 8.86 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Phoenix Power were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 584 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.8 million, with more than 10.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 54 traded securities, 10 advanced, 17 declined, and 27 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR234,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR154,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR81,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,638.38 points, up 0.3 per cent. Prices of Bank Dhofar, Ahli Bank and Sohar Internatio­nal Bank were up by 2.33 per cent, 1.17 per cent and 0.97 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Taageer Finance, Al Madina Investment­s, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Anwar Investment and Al Madina Takaful were up by 4.35 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 2.60 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 1.18 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 6,045.09 points, down 0.43 per cent. Prices of Raysut Cement and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 1.18 per cent and 0.37 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Chromite and A’Saffa Foods were up by 6.25 per cent, 1.76 per cent and 0.71 and respective­ly.

Services Index was up by 0.16 per cent before closing at 1,720.76 points. Prices of OIFC, Phoenix Power, National Gas and Al Jazeera Services were up by 2.70 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 0.98 per cent and 0.80 per cent respective­ly. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Muscat Desalinati­on, Abraj Energy, SMN Power Holding and Ooredoo were up by 6.15 per cent, 3.06 per cent, 2.36 per cent, 2.25 per cent and 0.54 per cent respective­ly.
