MUSCAT: It is that time of the year, when residents and citizens look to escape from the scorching summer. The school vacations will shortly begin and it is time for travel.

The last few days before a trip can be hectic, whether one is heading to his hometown or for a holiday abroad. To avoid feeling overwhelme­d with all the tasks that need to be done and to help avoid lastminute running around, here are a few tips based on the advisories.

First and foremost is to ensure and verify the passport and visa validity. It is always better to reconfirm the bookings 48 hours before travel. The visa of the destinatio­n should be checked before travel and passengers should carry all necessary travel documents.

It is always important to keep the proof of accommodat­ion ready if one wishes to avail visa on arrival facility at the destinatio­n.

Pre-book seats, request for a baby bassinet (if required), and meal requests should be made 72 hours prior to the departure.

With the summer rush at the airports, it is advised to reach 4hrs before the departure time of the flight and make sure that the ROP traffic fines, if any, are cleared before the travel.

Passengers should have proof of travel insurance as per destinatio­n country norms and it is advisable to carry currency according to the destinatio­n. E-visa holders are advised to carry a physical copy of the e-visa while travelling.
